d.sha helps farmers in rural India break the harmful practice of flood irrigating vegetable crops, and guides them to irrigate more efficiently. Designed to cost less than $15, d.sha (meaning ‘direction’ in Hindi) measures the soil moisture content of a field and alerts the farmer when it is time for him to water his crops. d.sha is offered with an introductory service and it is capable of increasing a farmer’s yields by upwards of 25%.
