Footprint Microfuel

Partner: iDE-Ethiopia

Footprint Microfuel is a system for fuel production that allows Ethiopian entrepreneurs to transform readily available biomass and agriculture waste into fuel pellets.  In Ethiopia, over 73 million people rely on wood for the majority of their cooking needs, often carrying 100kg of wood 10 km at a time for up to 20 hours a week.  By switching to pellets, women recapture time spent on wood foraging and carrying and are able to devote these hours to income generating activities.
