Footworks is a suite of interactive educational tools designed to retain patients with clubfoot and to engage their parents during the lengthy, 4-5 year treatment process. As of today, the biggest risk a child faces during the clubfoot treatment process is clubfoot relapse, which has a 75% chance of occurring when a patient does not adhere to the treatment as prescribed.
Footworks leverages emotional, interactive, and tangible educational tools to better educate parents on the importance of adhering to treatment, in an effort to reduce the overall number of children who experience relapse in Madagascar. The Footworks suite includes (1) a mobile application with an interactive relapse slider, which models the progression of relapse over time to raise parental awareness of the risk of not using the clubfoot brace, and (2) a redesigned Appointment Booklet with an illustrated story of a mother and child completing the treatment as well as a tracker of progress for provider and caregiver use.
Footworks has collaborated extensively with MiracleFeet, who moving forward will have the opportunity to implement the solution products in their clinics in Madagascar, and eventually worldwide.
