Diabetes Management Through Psychosocial Support – The Si Nos Dejan solution is designed specifically for women affected by diabetes in Higueras, a rural town in Mexico. An existing group of female community health workers, Promotoras, will visit program targets in their homes to provide them information about a new, local support program. Those selected participants will then be introduced to a psychosocial support network facilitated by the Promotoras. The network will involve traditional social aspects of rural Mexican culture as well as a supportive interaction session to increase awareness and compliance for diabetes sufferers. The overall program goal is to increase patient compliance to the prescribed pharmacological regimen and to necessary diet and lifestyle changes.
