Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, is the coldest capital city in the world, with winter temperatures reaching -40°C or below. Many low-income residents of Ulaanbaatar live in poorly insulated gers, traditional structures built for a nomadic lifestyle on the Mongolian steppes. HubCap is a simple and easy-to-install device that slots into the ceiling “oculus” structure in traditional gers and drastically improves heat retention, thus reducing fuel consumption needs.
